Make Your Voice Heard!
If there is something happening in your community, you are the ones on the frontlines of that issue, and we can’t fix it unless we’re aware of it. So tell us.
Testifying at the Capitol is easy! You can do it in person, or remotely from the comfort of your own home.
You may also submit written testimony.
What to expect when you testify:
→ You will typically have 2-3 minutes to speak. You may or may not be asked questions afterwards.
→ If you testify in person, you will need to go through security. Please do not bring any food or drinks, other than bottled water, into committee rooms.
→ Please maintain decorum and refrain from wearing clothing that displays any support or opposition for legislation.
What to say when you testify:
→ Introduce yourself, including your name and where you live, and why you chose to testify.
→ Focus on how the bill at hand will affect you, your community, people you know, etc. Tell us your story!
→ You can also speak to the broader impact of the bill, but make it personal.
→ Make an ask. Tell us what you think we should do or how we should vote.
